He Hears Your Cry

“In her deep sorrow Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly.”— 1 Samuel 1:10

With tears streaming down my face, I whispered a desperate prayer.

“Lord, are You listening?”

My heart ached as I prayed for my daughter, Madison, and the health struggles she was facing. I wanted answers. I wanted healing. But more than anything, I wanted to take away the pain she was carrying.

There was nothing I could do except place her in God’s hands and trust Him with what mattered most to me.

Maybe you’ve whispered a similar prayer.

Have you ever cried out to God for someone you love and wondered if He heard you? Have you carried a burden so heavy that it kept you awake at night? Have you waited for an answer that seemed to take longer than you thought you could endure?

If you have, you are not alone.

In 1 Samuel 1, we meet Hannah, a woman who understood that kind of heartache.

For years, she longed for a child. In her deep sorrow, she poured out her heart before the Lord, weeping bitterly and trusting Him with the deepest desire of her heart.

After Hannah prayed, Scripture says she “went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast” (1 Samuel 1:18).

Her circumstances had not changed.

But her heart had.

I love that.

God had not answered her prayer yet, but Hannah walked away with peace because she had poured out her burden before the One who loved her.

Hannah’s story reminds me that God’s silence never means He isn’t listening.

He sees every tear.

He hears every whispered prayer.

And He cares deeply about what burdens our hearts.

God does not always answer the way we expect or in the timing we would choose.

But one truth never changes:

He hears your cry.

When we bring our burdens to God, He may not change our circumstances immediately, but He can fill our hearts with a peace that only He can give.

Like Hannah, we can leave His presence with peace, trusting that the One who heard our prayer is faithful.

If you’re in a season of waiting, don’t give up.

Keep praying.

Keep trusting.

Keep pouring out your heart to the One who loves you.

God hears your cry.

And even while you wait, you can trust the One who is holding what you’ve placed in His hands.

Father,

There are burdens in my heart that feel too heavy to carry alone. Like Hannah, I come before You with my tears, my questions, and the people I love most.

Thank You for hearing every prayer and caring deeply about what burdens my heart. Thank You that even when my circumstances do not change right away, You can fill me with a peace that only You can give.

Help me keep praying, keep trusting, and keep placing what I love most into Your faithful hands.
