One Day at a Time

I didn’t realize how much worry I was carrying until I felt completely exhausted by it. My mind was always somewhere in the future—trying to figure everything out, trying to prepare for what might happen next. The “what ifs” never seemed to stop.

What if the money doesn’t come?

What if I get hurt, get sick, or lose my job?

What if I’m not really hearing God and I mess everything up?

My thoughts would pull me into fear over things that hadn’t even happened. I was so focused on what could happen that I was missing what God was trying to teach me. The whole time, He was simply asking me to trust Him.

I started thinking about the Israelites in the wilderness. Every single day, God provided manna from heaven. Some of them, just like me, tried to gather extra, just in case God didn’t come through tomorrow. Every time they did, it rotted.

God only gave them enough for each day.

Worry works the same way. Trying to carry tomorrow’s “what ifs” is like storing up manna—it only leaves us exhausted and fearful instead of trusting the God who has already been faithful.

All that time worrying and trying to figure everything out—for what? What if God had a different plan the whole time? All that worrying would have been for nothing.

Maybe you’ve been carrying it too long too.

It’s okay to lay it down.

God will give you what you need—not all at once, but right when you need it. Tomorrow is already in His hands. You don’t have to figure everything out today.

Just keep trusting God one day at a time.

One day at a time, Sweet Jesus.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

My mind runs ahead of me so easily and fills with “what ifs,” worries, and fears about tomorrow. I’ve been trying to figure everything out, carry everything at once, and control things that were never mine to hold.

Today, I place it all into Your hands.

Help me trust You with tomorrow while staying focused on what You’ve given me today. Quiet my thoughts when they begin to race. Replace my worry with Your peace and my fear with Your truth.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
